Types of Nissan Key
Nissan has used several quite different keys over the years, so knowing which one you have helps us quote quickly. If you're not sure, a photo of the key (or a description of how you start the car) is enough.
Transponder keys
A metal blade with a chip in the head. You turn the key to start, and the car checks the chip before it will run. Common on older Nissans.
Remote keys
A blade key with lock/unlock buttons — fixed or flip style. The remote and the chip both need setting up on a new key.
Intelligent Key
Nissan's keyless system: the key stays in your pocket, and you start with a button. It usually hides a small emergency blade. Fitted to many newer Nissans.
